Maryland
Marketer to Supply 1 Bcf of Gas
to Federal Agency
Enspire Energy
on Tuesday said it had been awarded a gas supply contract
by the U.S. General Services Administration that will
generate an estimated $10 million for the Annapolis,
Maryland-based marketer.
Under the deal, Enspire Energy will supply nearly 1 Bcf of gas starting in
June to the Architect of the Capitol in Washington and GSA’s White Oak
facility in Silver Spring, Maryland. Both facilities are in Washington Gas
Light’s territory.
Enspire was able to offer supply for about 14.5% less than May contract rates
for the utility, said Jim Lukas, the company’s president and CEO. Lukas
added that since Washington Gas’ rates are computed on a month-to-month
basis, “it’s tough to say whether that savings will be consistent.” However, “the
fixed price for a year gives GSA the advantage of knowing what their price
is going to be,” he said.
